How to Make a Coconut Matcha Latte

Ingredients:

  • 1 tsp matcha powder (about 2 grams)
  • ½ cup hot water (not boiling, around 80°C/175°F)
  • ½ cup coconut milk (unsweetened or light coconut milk)
  • Optional: ½ tsp honey or maple syrup (for added sweetness)

Instructions:

 

  1. Whisk the Matcha:

    • In a bowl, sift 1 tsp matcha powder to remove clumps.
    • Add ½ cup hot water and whisk vigorously in a zigzag motion until frothy.
  2. Heat the Coconut Milk:

    • Warm ½ cup coconut milk in a saucepan, but don’t let it boil.
    • Froth the coconut milk using a hand frother or whisk for a creamy texture.
  3. Combine:

    • Pour the matcha mixture into a cup.
    • Add the warm, frothed coconut milk on top.
  4. Sweeten (Optional):

    • Add honey, maple syrup, or stevia to taste.

  • Matcha powder (1 tsp): ~10 calories
  • Unsweetened coconut milk (120ml): ~45 calories
  • Hot water (120ml): 0 calories
  • Optional sweetener:
